Yawning Man, opgericht eind jaren tachtig in Californië, geldt als een van de grondleggers van de desert- en stonerrock. Hun unieke, filmische sound, gekenmerkt door psychedelische improvisaties en spontane instrumentale composities, ontstond tijdens de legendarische ‘generator parties’ in de woestijn van de Coachella Valley. Met hun vrije en atmosferische benadering inspireerde de band talloze artiesten en groeide zij uit tot een blijvende invloed binnen de internationale underground rockscene.
